Okinawa Milk Tea – Square Bar Cafe

One of my friends was craving Indian food, so we went out on an impromptu dinner outing today to a place my other friend recommended. There’s actually an 85 Degrees in the same plaza, so my original plan was to go there for boba after, since right now in the app there’s a deal for brown sugar boba. The 85 closed at 8 though, and we finished eating after then, but luckily there’s a boba place down the street in the same plaza, so obviously we still needed to get out boba fix, and try out a new place while we’re at it.

I couldn’t decide what I wanted from the menu, but the Okinawa picture looked pretty good, and I guess you can’t go wrong with brown sugar, so I went with that. The Thai Tea slush looked appealing, and I considered getting something with no caffeine since it’s pretty late, but in the end I just went with the milk tea because I was going to try to get the brown sugar boba at 85 today…

The first impression I had of the drink was that it was pretty sweet, but that’s what I get for ordering a brown sugar drink I guess. I also had to get it remade because the first time they put ice when I ordered no ice, and it’s a lot harder to check if they still did half sugar or not, but oh well…Anyway, the drink itself is ok, but more on the sweet brown sugar side, and I can’t taste much tea? Even then, the brown sugar is less on the usual toasty brown sugar side, and kind of an odd one note flavor. The boba is fine, but really mushy, and has a slight aftertaste? Or is that just the taste of the drink

This place also charges a dollar for no ice…man, this was kind of an extra drink for how ok it was :/
