Today we went to a Japanese place for dinner because my friend was craving ramen on a cold day. We chose a general Japanese place as opposed to a ramen specialty place so we would have options. And we all had a good time 🙂 I actually suggested this place because it was near HMart, a supermarket my friend wanted to go to tonight. Then R&B was down the street, so obviously we had to get a drink since it’s close by and while we’re on Convoy…I’ve been meaning to check out R&B for a while, and I’m excited! ( we didn’t end up going to HMart, but that’s besides the point…)
Ok, so I know I had a Jasmine last week, but I’m still craving a Jasmine, so I’m still listening to my cravings, ha! At first, I was looking at the latte section of the menu since in general, using fresh milk is better theoretically? But my friend commented that their milk teas are good, so I kind of gave in…I was also considering their house milk tea, and they also have a wintermelon green milk tea too! But I still opted for a classic jasmine as a baseline, so I was hoping it’d be good. Besides, I have time and opportunities to come back and compare anyway, right?
At first, they actually made my drink wrong, and put cheese cream on it. I noticed the cream at the top, and thought that did the Jasmine come with cheese cream? But when I asked an employee, she said she just made it wrong, and asked if I wanted to keep it. I figured they would probably throw it away, so I said I would and my friends all had a sip. Got a free drink out of it I guess.
The Jasmine is really good! The tea itself is very fragrant and not overpowering or bitter, and I think at 50% sweet it’s just right. It’s smooth, but not too creamy and works well as a milk tea, putting more emphasis on the tea as opposed to the creamer. Their boba is really good too! At first, I thought it had no flavor, but as I continued chewing it, I got that toasty brown sugar flavor which was really nice. It’s also super soft, but not mushy soft. Still flexible and a little chewy, and I like it a lot. I look forward to coming back!
