Today my friend from SDSU picked me up to get boba (and since it was around lunch, we got food too beforehand)! I suggested Camellia Road because I haven’t been there in so long, and I figured it would be the first place here to recommend we try boba around here.
Since yesterday I kind of wanted to get a Jasmine, I was going to try their Jasmine milk tea. Honestly, whenever I’ve gone to Camellia, I’ve always gotten their Thai for some reason, and though it’s good, I figured it’s time to try something else, especially since I’ve heard so much good things about their tea quality. Then I read and saw the description for their Oolong, which said the base was a light Tie Guan Yin. I think this is a pretty specific tea, and the one time I had Tie Guan Yin tea before I really liked the taste, because it was reminiscent of a green tea, like the description says, so I figured I’d give this one a shot.
The drink has a really refreshing taste. The tea flavor does taste a lot like the Tie Guan Yin I had previously, though not as strong. Like the description, the flavor really is on the lighter side, and so much so that I really get more of the milk flavor itself through. At least I still get some of the tea flavor, and I’m not completely drinking milk. I would have liked the tea flavor to be a bit stronger though. Boba is super good as always, perfectly chewy and sweet.
The thing is though, I haven’t been back since before the pandemic hit, and I have a stamp card with 8/9 stamps. Apparently, there was drama with stamp fraud, which is why they stopped, but even with 8/9 stamps the cashier didn’t accept it…I understand, but it’s still pretty frustrating…
