TLC Milk Tea – Tealightful Cafe

Today my dad stopped by from home to drop off/hand off to me my new phone so we could get it set up at a nearby AT&T store. The closest one to me that I thought is the one at Westfield UTC, so of course, since I haven’t had a drink in a week, and we were here, obviously I was going to get a drink at Wushiland. 🙂 My dad found a different close one that had a ton of goo reviews on Clairemont Mesa, so we went to that one instead. So I searched up a boba place nearby since while I was out I might as well get boba, and found Tealightful Cafe with decent reviews nearby and decided to try it out.

I was trying to decide what milk tea to get…should I go with some standard ones, or something unique to this store? I asked the cashier what the elderberry one tasted like, and he said his manager said like blueberry or better. Then I asked him what the difference between a classic milk tea, and the TLC, which I assumed was their house milk tea, and he said the TLC is a blend of black, jasmine, and oolong tea. He described it as chocolate-y tasting even though there’s no chocolate in it, and I thought the blend of all the teas was an interesting choice, so I went with that since it was the house milk tea.

I have to say, I really agree that it tastes like chocolate. It does have that rich creamy flavor, and also kind of complex. It’s like, so complex you’re not really sure what flavor it is, and I can kind of simultaneously taste the combination of teas and not…it’s really weird and interesting. I sort of regret not getting the winter melon, but it’s not a bad drink. Boba is just ok, not hard, but slightly on the tougher side with not too much flavor.

Also, they didn’t fill it up when I asked for no ice, because apparently it would be too sweet? Even though I couldn’t adjust ice because they said it was premixed? A little weird, but ok then…
