A+ is back this week, and after turning down my mom’s offer to get a drink last time to fulfill my self anti-boba diet, I was definitely going to say yes when she asked this time. So as usual, the pickup for the delivery was yesterday evening, and I’m having my drink today. I also had to get up slightly earlier than usual to go to a doctor’s appointment today, plus I got my flu shot afterwards, so this will be a nice energy boost and pick-me-up for work later today too.
Looking at menu, I was trying to decide on the next milk tea I wanted to try, and figured it was time to try their Hokkaido, especially because it had “Candy” in the English name. I say that, because according to my mom, the online order form menu said the Chinese name really was only Hokkaido Milk Tea, so either they changed it, or the Candy kind of came out of nowhere.
The drink fresh and cold out of the fridge is really refreshing. As for the taste, I was pleasantly surprised; it initially tasted almost like coffee, and it smells really nice. Even at 50% sugar, it’s pretty sweet, with the coffee-like flavor and hints of toffee flavor as well. I’m not sure what exactly makes this Hokkaido Candy, but maybe because of how sweet it is with the dark sugar-y flavor? Boba is pretty consistent, same flavoring as always, chewy, and pink, ha!
One thing to note today is that usually my mom requests fresh milk as opposed to creamer when she orders drinks from A+. I saw on her sticker label for her drink that it said fresh milk, but my label didn’t have it. I asked her if this drink didn’t have the option to change it, but she said she did. I’m not sure if it’s because I also saw some white flecks in my drink that could be creamer, that also makes me think they didn’t do it for mine. Either this drink doesn’t have the option, the label printed it out wrong, or they just forgot to swap. If so, this would be my first non-fresh milk from A+, and it doesn’t really have that kind of water-y taste that a lot of the other ones did. Maybe a sign? Or just a Hokkaido thing…
