Today was my meetup with one of my long-time friends who I haven’t seen or talked to in forever (and made a boba diet exception for :))! I recently got into contact with her again before my trip, and since she’s going back to school sooner than I am, we decided to meet up when I didn’t have work. Since I don’t work today around noon, we decided to meet up for lunch. Initially, I had suggested “getting boba or something”, since that seems like a chill thing to do if we met up at an awkward time, but since I had the noon free, we opted for lunch instead. I had been wanting to try out this new-is pho place around, and it was pretty good! Orobae was right down the street too, so that’s where we headed for boba today.
At first, she also said she might turn down the boba offer because of the sugar…but I guess since we were there we both ended getting a drink anyway. It feels pretty good to go back to Orobae after a while, and on a Wednesday noon, it wasn’t even that crowded which was great.
I went with the Honey Assam today since my mom has been getting it recently and I figured it’d be good. I also considered the new/limited edition Metal Buddha Oolong Milk Tea (I think that’s the name?!) or the Red Jade because my other friend liked it, but decided against it in favor of the more familiar sounding Assam. Plus, you can’t go wrong with a basic Assam and honey flavor. Someday I’ll try the plain Assam…
The drink is really good. Even at Level 3 sweetness, the Honey Assam is nicely flavored, not too sweet, not too bitter (at least for me), and overall has a pretty nice tea flavor. Even as a milk tea, it’s not too creamy, and the flavor isn’t watered down either. You can always count on Orobae to value their drink quality, especially since they offer new customers to try out their drink for satisfaction. Boba is pretty good today too. I remember their boba being ok, but I liked the chewiness today and the boba isn’t that sweet, but still has some flavor too.
