Boba Galore – Wushiland Boba / Oo Tea

Ah Oo Tea, the place that gives so much boba. Oo Tea is reminiscent of college, grocery shopping, and family visiting me from home, and I guess more recently, with Wushiland deliveries local to where I live too. I’d always go to Oo Tea if I was grocery shopping at 99 Ranch, because since it’s right there, you might as well get a drink, right? Man, I miss those days, going out to eat on Friday nights, and then going grocery shopping and getting boba while we were out. Huzzah for things going back to normal soon when I go back to college…I used to always stick to the classic milk tea because it was the default and so good, until my friend recommended their green milk tea. Now I take turns because they’re both so good, and each just hits different you know?

Wushiland really is about the tea, which has such a nice flavor. It’s so good, tastes just like how you think the classics should taste, the the milk teas are always creamy. While there are some interesting items on the menu, like Ovaltine and the inclusion of ice cream in some drinks. Other than that, the variety itself and the actual menu items are not that many, which I don’t think is a bad thing when you just want a classic milk tea. Unfortunately, they don’t carry many non-tea options, so my sister is usually unable to get a drink from there.

Highly recommend, and a must have for those who always complain there’s not enough boba in their drinks!

Chain? Yes. I’ve been to the Oo Tea in the 99 Ranch on Claremont Mesa and the newer one in UTC La Jolla. Even though they’re officially Wushiland Boba, the only location called Oo Tea, was actually their first location in America. I’ve also been to a location in Taiwan, where the name is 50Lan, and the aesthetics are a bit different.

Drinks Tried: Milk Tea (#2) (with Pearl), Green Milk Tea (#2, #3, #4, Taiwan), Matcha Milk Tea (limited edition and seasonal for some reason?), Roasted Oolong Milk Tea, Black Tea Latte (Organic), Green Tea Latte, Oolong Tea Latte (Organic, Organic #2), Ovaltine, Yogurt Green Tea, Green Tea Macchiato, Black Tea Macchiato,

Boba: The boba is always good. Chewy, a little bit sweet, and the best part, there’s always so much. It’s my mom’s favorite thing about the place, because they definitely don’t skimp out on the boba here. Almost weirdly so, sometimes almost a third of the cup is boba, and then you’re really testing your balancing boba to drink ratio skills. They also offer Pearl, which is the mini boba here. I have to say, they are as chewy and have the same flavor, but they’re too small for me.

Price: I think the price is pretty good for the size you’re getting, and the drinks are pretty good too.

Size: One size, a tall, slender cup. Not small! Taiwan has a medium and a large.

Interior: I can’t say much since Oo Tea is a booth. The Wushiland at UTC though has a small and cozy interior, with a few spots to sit inside. The one location I went to in Taiwan was pretty take-out centric, with a bit of seating. Both America and Taiwan are very yellow.

Wait: It really depends. Sometimes there’s no line and you barely have to wait for your drink since most of it is quickly prepared and pretty efficient, but I’ve been there when the line is super long and it takes forever.

Sell Food? Yes. I think they sell small snacks like dried fruit in America.

Reward System? Yes. Every 50 or so points gets you a free drink in San Diego.
