We’re back at Redstraw today after a while! Today’s a special occasion, meeting up with some local friends as summer is just about starting (I still have a couple days left of finals though), and one friend is leaving the country tomorrow. After a whole year of mostly avoiding in-person socializing when so many friends were close by, it’s nice to at least plan some hangouts now that society is opening up again. The default thing to do is to get boba, ha!, and one of my friends chose to go to Redstraw.
Today I went for the French Daisy. I’ve actually been wanting to try it for a while, because of how super aesthetic is looks in the pictures, and it’s also a pretty simple drink. Plus, it can’t hurt to go for a simpler drink, and for a fresh change of pace right? Especially since I had a milk tea yesterday, a non-milk tea (not done too much on purpose even if it is Redstraw) will be a good alternate. One of my friends gets it all the time, like he did today, so it was cool to match with him too.
First off, I asked for no ice, and they put ice, so I asked if I could get the ice removed. Now, normally, the drink is super aesthetic with the butterfly pea purple on top of the jasmine tea yellow. When the employee decided to remove the ice, he just strained all the toppings out of the drink, mixing the purple and the tea for me…hence the not that aesthetic picture…So instead of getting an aesthetic drink, it’s just a purple drink, which is slightly disappointing…
Anyway, the drink itself is super light and refreshing! Not too many complicated flavors, just a simple jasmine tea with added lemon flavor, and I guess some mint too. Went down way too fast, and I would definitely get it again for the simple flavor and pick me up. Even at not that much sugar, it’s really good and a great clean drink. The boba was also great, perfectly bouncy and sweet!
