Milk Tea with Pearl – Wushiland Boba

Weekly Wushiland is back 🙂 I’m really loving how it’s kind of normal to look forward to having a Wushiland drink every Thursday. It’s really kind of a surreal kind of normal. In other news, even though I only have a couple weeks of school left, I kind of low-key decided to skip my first of three morning classes since it’s optional, I can speed up recordings later, I don’t have to wake up slightly earlier, and I can avoid the discussion aspect. That being said, the drink will still be my breakfast and energy fuel for my other two classes though, and my workout later. I don’t have to work anymore Thursdays though! (We’re also skipping out on A+ this weekend because there are so many deliveries this weekend, ha!)

I’ve exhausted the milk tea section and latte section of the menu, so I was thinking of trying the Macchiato section next. I was kind of worried about the milk foam though since I leave it overnight, but I would end up mixing it in anyway since thats how I usually drink foam drinks. Perhaps next time…I really wanted Wushiland’s class milk teas though after not having one for a while, so I went with the standard milk tea. Not even the latte, since that kind of changes the taste in a meh way. My twist though, for a unique post? Replacing the normal sized boba with the mini boba, or as they’re called here, pearl. To be honest, I usually prefer the regular size over mini boba, but since it’s basically the same thing, I figured I’d give it a shot and change it up.

I’m so happy to get the classic milk tea again. The tea flavor really comes through, and you still get the creamy flavor without overpowering the tea (which I didn’t think was possible, since tea usually has a strong flavor). Nothing much else to say about the drink itself; it’s a great go-to drink for any milk tea lover or enthusiast 🙂

The pearl / mini boba is(? are?) interesting. It really is basically boba, but super tiny. The flavor is the same, but eh texture and chew experience (?) are different, as expected. I don’t know if it’s just me, but because it’s so tiny, the pearls just slip around in my mouth, I have to try not to swallow them, and are almost too small to chew on. For me, boba is there for the partly for the chewiness and texture, so getting the mini one loses out on the experience. Obviously, every different topping that’s available will give you a different experience. For me, I still like regular boba better, but I don’t mind the change. There is less chance of a stiff uncooked center with smaller boba though.

By the way, my sister has trypophobia, and once she saw someone with pearls in their drink and was triggered. So maybe avoid getting pearls if you know someone like that too…
