Ovaltine – Wushiland Boba

Last week, we tried ordering Wushiland Monday night at midnight (I think it’s supposed to expire 11:59pm), and we didn’t make it, but with so much and often I’ve been having boba recently, I’m totally ok with it (as much as I love boba, hah). Anyway, it’s back this week, so huzzah!

I’m done trying the typical milk teas on the delivery menu so far, and I’ve decided to go for something I’ve never had before but also sounded interesting: Ovaltine. When I ordered it, I was hoping it’d be ok…I don’t think there’s any actual tea or caffeine in this drink, so it might be ok to drink late in the afternoon I guess. I still saved it from yesterday though for this morning. I figured if this one is good, then I’d try the fresh milk latte option. Which brings me to my question, isn’t Ovaltine a milk flavoring powder? So what’s the difference between the “milk tea” one and the fresh milk tea latte one? Is it like that one time I was at One Zo and the milk tea one is pre mixed in a vat and the latte one is poured fresh? On the website, the latte option at the milk and Ovaltine part separated like the other lattes to showcase the fresh milk, so what is the Ovaltine mixed with in the first place? What a mystery…

At first, I thought it smelled weird, but I guess that’s just how it smells because my mom says it smelled like…Ovaltine. Then I became a little cautious bc sometimes the smell can impact / predict how something tastes right? I had a few sips so I could make some room for boba, and it actually doesn’t taste as bad as I smelled. It tastes kind of chocolate-y and creamy, but not like chocolate milk at the same time. Pretty interesting drink. I wouldn’t call myself a huge fan, but I don’t hate it either, and wouldn’t mind drinking it again. Would I choose this over an actual milk tea? No. Boba today is pretty good though.

There was also some sediment on the bottom, I wonder what that is…
