Golden Milk Tea – Soma Tea & Mocktail

Soma’s back y’all, and my dad will rarely get a drink from a place again unless it’s a special occasion or there’s a drink he’s really into. For Soma, it’s because they have a sesame milk tea (turns out, he tried their Chocolate Banana). It’s also (unfortunately) getting warmer here…which means t’is the the season for more boba(?). Even with all these delivery options, I’m really not going to say not to getting a drink…hehe. We actually got this yesterday evening, but I figured I’d save it to drink earlier today.

Soma’s delivery menu is quite limited, which can be nice because they don’t have to produce as many drinks and you don’t have as much choice overload and you know they’re all going to be quality, but may also be problematic for people who actually like trying new things or don’t see a choice they like. Anyway, looking at the milk tea portion of the menu, the other milk tea option that looks interesting that I’d get would be the Golden Milk Tea. Weirdly enough all of the other drinks come in large, but only the Golden Milk Tea comes in medium. I guess it’s their way of pricing up for a higher quality tea? I don’t entirely mind, and though I usually like to get as much drink as possible, since I’m getting boba somewhat often I think it’s ok to cut down a little. 🙂

The drink at first sight looks super light, almost as light, if not lighter, than, let’s say, an Osmanthus Oolong that I would get. When my mom first saw it, she was convinced that it was probably majority milk and little tea from how light the color was, and I tried to tell her that different teas produce different colors when milk is added. Anyway, once I tasted it, I could really taste the quality of the tea. The strong tea flavor is very much there, and it’s almost light and aromatic, reminiscent of a light oolong, and pairs very nicely with the very slight creaminess of the milk. Definitely not missing out on the tea. Boba is as nice as last time, and I’m loving their honey boba.
