Hokkaido Roasted Oolong Milk Tea – Orobae

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! You know it’s a special day when Orobae has a (relatively) short line! 🙂 I think my parents went to the plaza it’s located in, and since they saw the line was not that long, they decided to get a drink today. Haven’t had Orobae in a while, partly because like Omomo, the line there is always so long because of how popular they are. I totally understand since their drinks are high quality. I wonder if they have a line right when they first open though. Shoutout to my parents for the decision!

Today I decided to go for the Hokkaido Roasted Oolong Milk Tea (kind of a long name!). I felt like trying something unique that’s not a black milk tea since I’ve had a few black milk teas recently. Orobae does have quite the variety though which I am looking forward to trying soon! I also chose the Hokkaido over the regular roasted Oolong to see if the Hokkaido makes a difference. This drink will be some nice afternoon work fuel, ha! Even though my last final is due Friday, I’m trying to finish my last paper by tomorrow since my last synchronous final is tomorrow. We’ll see how that goes, but it should be a relatively easy assignment, just got to do it…

I think this is a very unique and interesting drink! It tastes roasty and caramel-y, and at level 3 it’s just the right amount of sweetness. The roasted flavor of the Oolong is very apparent, giving it a slightly dark flavor. It actually tastes like a darker version of the signature Rising Phoenix, which is also an Oolong Tea. I wonder how they make it Hokkaido, since I heard they use creamers for all the milk teas except the Thai Tea. A nicely balanced, roasted oolong drink! The boba is soft and bouncy chewy, with the perfect amount of sweetness to it. Feels nice to have a quality Orobae drink again! 🙂
