Signature Milk Tea – Soma Tea & Mocktail

My dad found or came across another boba pick-up delivery form from a place called Soma. I searched it up, and apparently it’s a store im Artesia that’s won a bunch of awards from Taiwan for its tea and drinks. What was a little odd was that the pick-up location was at a local high school, but as long as it’s safe and after school hours, I guess it shouldn’t matter too much…

Today I got their Signature Milk Tea. Since I’ve never had this place before, I’m trying out the standard milk tea. The menu itself was pretty small, which I’d hoped was an indication of good quality, and had some interesting options. Actually, not too many that I’d go for or try, but we’ll see in the future.

The drink is a pretty good basic milk tea! At 50% sugar, it’s not that sweet, so the tea flavor really stands out. This milk tea is definitely on the milkier side of taste than tea taste, but they do come together nicely and balance to make a great milk tea drink. Solid, and would get again! I also liked how since it was a delivery, it came without ice. I was worried since there was no ice customization on the order form, but I appreciate that there’s none at all, and the drink is still cool.

When I opened the boba container, the smell was so fragrant of honey. This is definitely the most honey honey boba that I’ve ever had. My mom noticed that the inside looked like it was solid, so she microwaved it in case for fresh boba, which further enhanced the slight smokiness of the honey smell and flavor! After mixing it in the drink, the flavor of the honey boba is subtle, but after chewing it, surprisingly, the honey flavor is really apparent. I feel like the boba is slightly smaller than the norm, but that’s not a bad thing and it’s nice to see some variety. It’s nicely chewy, and pretty good quality boba to go along with the drink!
