Roasted Oolong Milk Tea – Wushiland Boba

Our (kind of) weekly Wushiland (technically) Wednesday orders are back! Well, we orderd for Wednesday and it was picked up yesterday, but I saved mine for today again, so I could have it in the morning. What was nice this time around was that the order form defaulted to No Ice when there wasn’t an ice section before. I wonder if other people were requesting no ice, or they finally realized there wan’t an ice section, or if they figured it would be easier to not put ice anymore. Whatever the case, I guess it shows that they’re improving or taking notice.

This week I went with a milk tea of the last of the three tea types, their Oolong! Specifically, their roasted oolong, which suggests to me a darker flavor than a typical oolong tea. Next on my Wushiland list is their lattes. My mom actually tried their Black Tea Latte this time around, and she liked it, saying it tasted a little different than a milk tea.

Wow, this drink was really surprising in a good way. I had a small first sip, and it had such a huge impact. It’s definitely toasty, and you can taste the “roasted” part of the name. It has a dark, sweet flavor, almost reminiscent of coffee. I don’t drink coffee, but I have heard before that some Oolongs or darker/deeper teas do have a more coffee-like taste. Dark + sweet + coffee = toffee flavor? This has definitely been the darkest Oolong Tea I’ve had, which now make the Wushiland offerings more unique! I don’t think I would get this all the time, but it would be a nice change of pace every now and then, especially if I was in the mood for the flavor. Boba is also very nice, chewy and warm (from being microwaved, ha!), and such a great amount. Overall, great drink to start my Thursday morning! 🙂

As a side note, the only downside to Wushiland giving so much boba is that it gets increasingly difficult to balance the drink to boba ratio, especially when you finish the drink early and have a bunch of boba left. A little inconvenient, but a skill I have yet to master…
