We’re back with another Trader Joe’s run, for the first time in two weeks! I guess to say “it’s been a while” might be an exaggeration, but relatively, it feels like it has been, so…Today also marks the first time using my new credit card! One Zo doesn’t give you receipts, and I forgot to ask for one, but oh well. Who knew tap to pay could be so convenient?
Since I had a regular or black tea a couple days ago, I figured I should get a green tea drink today. I’ve already had the One Zo Green Milk Tea, so today I went for the Green Tea Latte. Plus, it’d be a good chance to compare the two, though for a real comparison, you’d probably want to drink them side by side. I heard someone ordering after me ask the difference between a Milk Tea and Latte, and from what I overheard (because I was slightly far away and the cashier was wearing a mask), the cashier’s explanation was that the milk tea was already made and mixed, whereas the latte is more fresh. So there’s an explanation from a boba shop employee.
As a side note, as I was looking at the menu deciding my drink for today, I took the Roasted Rice Milk Tea into consideration for the future too. I’ve heard of it before from One Zo, and not too many places offer it I think, so it’s definitely a more unique drink to try. I feel like it’s not caffeinated, because it could just be tea added onto the name, which would add to the list of drinks good for the afternoon, but I’m not sure. Either way, sounds cool. What I found interesting was that it was the number 3 recommended drink, but paired specifically with strawberry boba. Maybe that’s a good chance to try a new boba flavor.
The Green Tea Latte tastes great, with a nice balance between the light green tea flavor and a slight creaminess of milk. I’m not sure if I’m imagining it, but the tea tastes a little stronger, or a little more pronounced, and I think you can also taste the milk more (probably because it’s fresh?). Overall, a great green milk tea and drink on its own, and from my impression today, maybe I prefer it over the milk tea, though I don’t think the difference is too dramatic or noticeable. Makes you wonder why they offer both options.
The boba today is also good, and One Zo has nice consistency. A little chewier today and not just soft-chewy, with the slight sweet flavor from the honey boba as usual. And I can count on One Zo for a decent amount of boba too!
Details: Green Tea. Latte; less sugar; large; with honey boba; no ice; from One Zo (Irvine)
