This week’s Trader Joe’s run is in the morning, because I work on Sunday afternoon. Today was just my dad and me for a chill grocery trip. I guess ~11 on a Sunday morning is a popular time for groceries, because there were quite a few people and even a bit of a (socially distanced) line out of the entrance! The line moves pretty quickly though and looks long because of the whole 6-feet thing, so it didn’t take too long to get it.
The perks of going in the morning is that boba shops tend to open around this time. Specifically, One Zo opens at 11 am, which meant by the time we were done at Trader Joe’s and headed over there was no line at all for boba! I even saw their boba machine churning out strawberry boba, so they probably do their prep in the morning. Also, I don’t have to worry about the caffeine getting to me, and actually, it’s a perfect time to get my tea in to fuel my energy for work this afternoon. It’s a win-win situation! Who knew that getting stuff done in the morning could be so satisfying?
That leaves choosing my tea options…I decided to get a latte because…uh, natural ingredients reasons, I guess? I was also thinking I haven’t had matcha in a while, and I’d try One Zo’s matcha again. So the Uji Matcha Latte it was. For a moment, I considered trying out their strawberry boba, since apparently matcha strawberry combinations are a thing, but I decided to put off trying their flavored boba for another time. Plus, classic boba can’t hurt. Their recommended menu paired the Uji Matcha Latte with honey boba anyway. Perhaps strawberry boba with a fruity drink? We shall see…
Their matcha is pretty good, and you can definitely taste the strong, pure matcha flavor. Maybe because I was taking my time today drinking, but if you let it sit too long, the matcha sediments tend to sink to the bottom so you might need to stir once in a while. There’s also some other flavor in there, which I’m not sure is their sweetner or part of the milk flavor? It’s not a negative thing, just something I noticed today. Maybe it’s just part of their matcha latte? As always, love the amount of boba I got, and texture and chewiness is on point.
