For whatever reason, my dad wanted to go to Trader Joe’s and me to tag along, so because I wanted a few grocery items myself and it was a chance to get a drink, I went. Plus, this is the perfect time of day for a snack, and as my finals-study break day / day to work on this project I’ve been procrastinating on that I have a week to do, a sugar or caffeine boost couldn’t hurt. 🙂
I wanted a milk tea today, and I’m slowly realizing that I’m running out of milk tea non-repeat want-to-try drinks from Omomo…Is it cheating because I’ve had the Uji Green Milk Tea but haven’t written a post on it? Not by my rules on my blog. Matcha is a milk tea yet a milk tea in its own category. Plus, after my first meh experience with it, it couldn’t hurt to try to redeem it by actually writing a post on it.
The first time I had it I remember not liking it because I was expecting a matcha milk tea but got clashing flavors of Jasmine and Matcha. Both of these flavors are strong and unique, so I didn’t think they’d mix well together. Upon reading the description later, it’s actually a Jasmine milk tea with Matcha in it. This time I was more prepared for it, and either it was the expectation or how they make it, but it was less of a flavor clash this time. Maybe it was the mindset thing, but it really tastes like you mixed Jasmine milk tea and a matcha milk tea. Maybe it’s because I’ve had Omomo’s Jasmine milk tea in between then. Not saying that the drink last time was bad, but today’s is not nearly as “bad” as I thought last time. Overall, an interesting drink, but I don’t think it would make the go-to list. If I wanted Jasmine or Matcha, I’d go for the Jasmine milk tea or Matcha Cortado. I still don’t think these flavors go together if they’re equally strong, and let’s be real, if you want these flavors, they gotta be strong…
Boba is pretty good, chewy, with that little bit of Omomo boba flavor, ha! Also, I think this is the first time I’ve gotten the light green lid from Omomo. The rest have all been the dark green one I think? What are the factors behind it, considering my family of four all got the light green one today. Maybe should have paid attention the lids other people were getting…
