Milk Tea Bun – 85 Degrees Bakery

I used to think 85 Degrees was overrated, and that their bread selection wasn’t that large or special. Now, I really like consuming most forms of carbs anyway, so if you give me bread (with ingredients that I like), I’ll still eat it. If I go into an 85 Degrees, I’ll probably want to get something while I’m at it. Would I be willing to wait in a long line for 85? Eh, no, and still probably not.

I think I started to appreciate 85 more when I went to college, because it satisfied the Asian bread I was missing away from home. There was also an 85 relatively close to campus, so I’d go with my friends sometimes too. I’m pretty sure I went to 85 more often during the time I was at college than my entire life before. I’d get bread there because my mindset during college was might as well if I’m here, since I didn’t have a car. So I explored bread that looked and sounded appealing, and now we’re here. I still think their drinks are ok, pretty decent quality, the boba is average, but I might try exploring other things like their sea-salt series that my friend likes and that they’re known for in the future.

Out of most the stuff at 85, I think the Milk Tea Bun is definitely one of my favorites / go-tos. When fresh, the bun is soft, and the cream inside has a nice and apparent milk tea flavor. There’s also boba inside with the cream (which is why it belongs on the blog)! That gives it a nice texture variety too. Sometimes I feel like I could use more cream since the inside looks more roomy, and sometimes I feel like it’s just right. I definitely like it more than the Matcha Choco Bun, which I had yesterday. Does anyone want a write-up on that?
