What, a double post? I’m not a fan of multiple posts on one day, but I did consume multiple boba items today so I guess there’s that.
Today’s another Friday at Orobae, except the occasion is that I got my flu shot today. Personally, it’s a somewhat feared event because I, like most people, don’t like needles. Which would be a normal thing, but my reaction to shots is a little…extreme. I feel bad for the lady who gave me my shot today, who was super nice about it too. As much as I hate getting them, get your flu shot!
Anyway, let’s not dwell on painful topics, but on the sweet and tasty :). After getting the regular Gyokuro last time, I decided to get the Honey Gyokuro to compare. I did forget to ask about honey vs sweetness, but I figured I’ll find out today taste-wise how it’s different. I even was out of it when putting in my order, saying Level 3 Sweet and then half sugar, then realizing that was the same thing, probably confusing the guy who was taking my order in the process. As a side note, I thought it was interesting that on the menu next to the Rising Phoenix there was a note that said “New Harvest”, so you know it’s fresh I guess and they definitely have it in stock. I ordered one for both my parents!
For the drink itself, to no one’s surprise, it tastes like the Gyokuro Milk Tea with a note of sweetness at the beginning, then it tastes like the Gyokuro Milk Tea, slightly bitter, nice green tea. My review of the non-honey version can be found in a previous post, since nothing changed except the Honey! If I had to choose, I’d probably choose the Honey version over the regular one for the added sweet flavor, though I did get Level 3 sweet both times which might impact how I thought of them. Probably said this last time, but at most places, half sugar still tastes normal/fine to me, but at Orobae, I really start to taste more of the tea which is a nice change, or more apparent. The boba is nicely chewy, though today I feel like it could use more flavor, even in a honey drink.

That sounds good! Do you normally ask for no ice in your drinks?
Yes! So the drink doesn’t eventually get diluted and I can drink at my own pace 🙂
Dang I might have to try that out tomorrow when my friends and I go out for our weekly boba runs.
