Today’s Russian study session was at Omomo! My friend and I read a passage on St. Petersburg, and then did some name declension practice, along with some other miscellaneous grammar items.
My drink choice today was a pretty quick one: the Jasmine Milk Tea, which I like to call the not-so-secret Omomo menu item. Jasmine Milk Tea is a pretty common, probably standard choice at most boba places nowadays, but for whatever reason it isn’t on Omomo’s main menu. This surprised me the first time I saw the menu, for multiple reasons: you can get Jasmine tea as a Creamomo (Jasmine tea with Omomo’s cheese or tiramisu foam) or just as a fresh tea. What puzzled me was that most of the Creamomo teas or fresh teas had a milk tea version under “Milk Tea”, but not the Jasmine Tea. According to their website, they also put Jasmine Tea in their Uji Matcha (which I didn’t love the first time I had it) too, so obviously they have it in stock. For the longest time I thought Omomo just didn’t offer Jasmine Milk Tea, which I thought was a shame and a little odd, but I figured, whatever.
One day, I came across someone random’s Instagram post that said they got Jasmine Milk Tea, and I thought, “Huh, maybe they got a custom drink, like they added milk to the Jasmine Fresh Tea on the menu or something”. It can’t hurt to experiment with items or add-ons or customize your drink (since I basically always do that anyway), but some part of me figured that since it wasn’t officially on the menu, maybe I shouldn’t try it out.
Sometime over the summer / in the middle of quarantine, I was checking out Omomo’s online order system (which was only Chino Hills at the time), and I noticed in the Milk Teas section Jasmine Milk Tea was listed as an official menu item! Hence the not-so-secret Omomo menu item.
Anyway, Omomo’s Jasmine Milk Tea is great, and nice quality! The Jasmine flavor is strong and floral, and the tea flavor and milkiness balance nicely, creating such a nice and refreshing drink. Nothing too much else to say, it’s just up there in the ranks as a top standard Jasmine Milk Tea. I would definitely get this again if I was craving a good Jasmine Milk Tea at Omomo! For now though, I’ll probably be on my quest trying other drinks. The boba is nice and chewy, with a little flavor, pretty consistent Omomo quality.
