Today my dad decided to get me some post-workout boba from 7 Leaves. I was suspicious, and I am 99.9% sure it’s because he wants me to make him overnight oats. Don’t worry Dad, I will (sooner or later). 😉
For anyone that actually cares, I’m just about almost finished with my “Reviewing the drinks on the 7 Leaves menu that I’ve tried or want to try” journey. I’m essentially saving the Thai Tea for last since it’s my favorite drink on their menu, and I’m about 80% sure I won’t be getting the Mung Bean Milk Tea or the Herbal Tea, at least anytime soon. While I have been being more adventurous, I’m not the biggest fan of mung bean, and herbal tea isn’t really my thing (though, I do enjoy a good herbal jelly, and I hear it has chrysanthemum in it which makes it enticing, so thats a big ‘maybe’…we shall see). My mom ordering the Jasmine Milk Tea also reminded me that I want to get the 7 Leaves Jasmine Milk Tea again because it was so unique, so I guess those are my 7 Leaves plans spoilers(?).
However, ultimately I was craving matcha, so I went with the Japanese Matcha Tea. As with most of 7 Leaves’s drinks, their drinks taste a little different than what you would get any most places. 7 Leaves’s matcha is on the sweeter side, and I figured out what it reminded me of: the powdered green tea packets my family used to buy a long time ago from Mitsuwa that you pour into water that came already sweetened (if anyone has been to the one in Costa Mesa, they used to sell it to you in cups at one of the dessert shops/booths). That’s not a bad thing because I loved that drink, but my parents weren’t fans after they found out about the sugar already in it! So while the matcha here is not as “pure” matcha tasting, it’s still a good drink. I did get my drink with Easy Sweet, but I wish there was an option for less sugar on the app, where we’re mostly ordering from nowadays. It makes me wonder how the regular sugar drink tastes like. Oh, and matcha is supposed to be good for you anyway, so it all balances out…right?
Today’s boba is good, very chewy, and the sweetness of the drink helps add to the flavor of the boba. There’s also a great amount, which I always appreciate. I also appreciate no random granules in my drink today!
