Gyokuro Green Milk Tea – Orobae

For anyone that cares, today is Russian Friday at Orobae. Why Friday? What happened to Wednesday? Well, that was just a rescheduling on both my and my friend’s part. We also went for Orobae today because everyone can always use a Daiso run, which is next door. The air has been pretty bad lately too, so the in person meetup almost didn’t happen to avoid smoky air. Thankfully though it cleared up today, and we were able to do Russian and get boba today! Today we went over another beginner Russian passage from the same site as last week, this time about the coldest city on Earth.

I’m excited to start trying out more teas from Orobae, and even though their signature, most popular Rising Phoenix was so good and lived up to the hype, I was going to go for a green milk tea today anyway. Thankfully I did too, because I heard the girl taking orders tell almost every other person, “Sorry, we’re out of the Rising Phoenix today”. It’s popular, and I guess sold out, for a reason! I was also 99% sure (in the moment) that I already had the Honey Gyokuro Green Milk Tea, so I decided to get the regular version today (which upon checking my Orobae entry, I apparently had the regular one previously and not the Honey). Either my memory is wrong, which is a plausible answer since it often is, or the entry is wrong. I started the Orobae entry a little bit after I originally had it, so I can’t confirm if it is right or not…

On another note, if I get the regular one at a level 3, is that the same as a Honey one at level 2? Both the Gyokuro and the Assam have a Honey option, and my mom today was deciding between Honey Assam at 2 or regular at 3. She ended up getting Honey at 2 and liked it. Maybe I’ll ask next time I go…or get the Honey Gyokuro at 2 or 3…who knows what I’ll be wanting, or when I’ll go back.

Anyway that aside, the drink is a very nice green milk tea. Because I got it at Level 3, I could really taste the tea the most, which was slightly bitter and deep and still light. Upon tasting the drink, it really makes me feel like I got the Honey previously because I remember it being a little sweeter, but that could be a non-adjusted sugar drink, or it really was the Honey. Today’s boba has a nice texture, chewy and bouncy, and it’s a little sweet if chewed long enough. There’s a good amount too!

I’m also very happy because they spelled my name right again. Man does Orobae have great customer service; everyone’s so nice. I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this before, but I have come across reviews that say they talk to you too much, ha! It’s because they really care though. P.S., every time I look at an Orobae cup, particularly the large, I swear my first Orobae cup was bigger…but I could just be going crazy.
