Strawberry Hibiscus Tea – 7 Leaves Cafe

This weekend reached the 100s for some reason, so it’s a perfect time for boba!

Today I’m finally trying my sister’s favorite “bloody” drink, the Strawberry Hibiscus Tea from 7 Leaves. I’m not sure when she started calling it by that name, but it’s probably a combination of the looks the drink (when no ice is included) and the fact that she’s always unaware of the names of the place we order from and of the actual drink she’s ordering. It’s a little later in the day, so I opted for something lighter and refreshing, which made the Strawberry Hibiscus an appealing choice. For some reason I remember reading about some benefits in this drink but I checked the menu again and apparently the only drink with nutrients listed was the Taro Milk Tea…am I going crazy?

The drink is pretty good! It’s an overall fruity drink with some floral hints that complement the fruity flavors really well, and makes for a refreshing drink on a hot day. It’s almost berry-like, combined with hibiscus, which I’ve tried before and is a great flavor. Unfortunately, I couldn’t adjust the sugar level in the Strawberry Hibiscus, but that doesn’t mean the drink is overwhelmingly sweet because the drink tastes well-balanced, but adjusting the sugar usually makes me feel better, ha! (I also read the nutritional information, and there indeed is quite an amount of sugar in this drink..) Today’s boba was also really good! Super chewy, very nice quality, and not that sweet, but since the drink was sweet, I didn’t mind. I did end up adding some ice to my drink because I wanted it a little colder, and asking for originally no ice just means I get more drink! 🙂

What I do notice is a sort of discrepancy on the topping of this drink. The app will ask you if you want to. leave out the strawberry bits (which I didn’t do), but there are none anyway? Instead there are some harder “bits”, which I think might be dried hibiscus, at the top and bottom. Whatever it is, it’s not great to chew on, but it’s not annoying. I also notice sometimes my sister gets a lime slice and sometimes doesn’t, and some promotional images show the lime slice, so what’s up with that?
