Peach Cloudtea – Spiritea

We’re back with another Russian study session this week! Today, we went over some animal and weather vocabulary, and built a mini story, with a surprising twist ending.

This week we headed to Spiritea, because last week we were talking and I mentioned something along the lines of “Next time I head to Class 302 for boba I’ll be conflicted between Class 302 boba or Spiritea” because they’re located in the same plaza. I actually haven’t been to Spiritea even though they’ve been open for about a year now, and my Russian study buddy actually has been to the location in Canada! We decided to go so I could try it out.

Spiritea actually doesn’t carry any “real” boba made from tapioca, only crystal boba, so I did add the crystal boba to call it an official boba excursion since today is my first time trying! Their selection is pretty interesting, with both familiar and unfamiliar tea names, no milk and milk options, and fruit tea options. I usually would go for a milk tea when trying a new place, but I some of the names were also kind of out there, so I stuck to a Cloudtea, which is a fruit tea smoothie with Cloud foam, their version of a salt foam. The girl who also helped us today was super nice!

I ended up getting the Peach Cloudtea, which is supposed to be a seasonal drink, so if I ever go back, maybe I’ll get a milk tea (like my mom ordered) or a different fruit Cloudtea. I’m pretty sure it’s peaches blended with a tea, maybe Jasmine or Oolong, but they didn’t specify. The drink itself is really nice and refreshing, and like they advertise, made with real peaches so it did have a real peach taste, and not artificial, which I thought was great. The strawberries on the side make it a really aesthetic drink too, which is always a bonus! I did ended up sucking the strawberries, which were thinly sliced, through the straw, and they added a slight sour, but not too sour, addition to the drink. The foam tasted like other salt creams I’ve tried, and it’s light and fluffy. I personally think it didn’t add too much to the drink. Maybe if I mixed it better it might have, but I found it hard to mix in to the rest of the smoothie, and only really got it when I tried some at the beginning and drank most of it at the end.

For a first time trying Crystal boba, it wasn’t bad! The jelly texture fit right in with the peach smoothie, and it did take on a peach flavor from the drink, which I thought was nice. Is it a boba substitute? Yes. Would I take it over regular boba? No.
