Ah, nothing beats a drink after a workout!
The real occasion today though was the “deal” Sunright was offering on their online order system. I noticed on their Instagram that if you purchase $20 or more you get a free face mask (a reusable cloth one), which gave me a perfect excuse to get Sunright after a while not having it (before the face mask deal ran out of course). We barely made the $20 mark because some of the drinks were about $4.80!
If anyone remembers the last time I had Sunright, I had my next order already planned. Here’s the reveal: Jasmine Milk Tea with honey boba! The reasoning is because I want to try Sunlights other milk teas besides the house tea, or Ceylon, and I was also on my Jasmine kick. I’m always down for a good Jasmine or any milk tea though!
Well, it’s called a plan for a reason. When I was making my order earlier, they had honey boba available, but when I was actually placing my order, honey boba ran out for some reason! I had to make do, I suppose, with brown sugar boba. There’s nothing wrong with brown sugar boba, because I ended up loving it, but my plan was to try their honey boba and see how it compares. Spoiler alert, turns out, I check the online order after I got home, and honey boba was available again! That means I have to make another future order…any guesses as to the drink (since the boba part has been revealed)?
I actually got kind of lost, because this location has 3 entrances/exits/doorways. One is entrance only, one is exit only, and, as I discovered later, the back door is online order pickup. This is great for social distancing protocols, but I just walked in the entrance wondering where my order was, since I haven’t personally picked an order up before. It was only after I read the sign on the front door (that was open so wasn’t exactly in plain view…) that I realized the back door pick-up system existed. I figured it out eventually…Their cup holder, while plastic, is super interesting because it’s also bendable!
Onto the drink! And yes, I did shake 17 times. Sunright’s Jasmine is light (like its color!) but also has a strong, slightly smoky Jasmine tea flavor and is very refreshing. I think their house milk really adds to the richness and deepens the flavor of the milk tea, but it doesn’t make the drink too heavy either. My mom also ended up getting the Jasmine, since she likes 7 Leaves’s, but I think she likes 7 Leaves because their Jasmine is darker than most places, so she didn’t enjoy Sunright’s as much. I applaud her for trying!
The boba today was so good though. The brown sugar boba was super soft, and chewy, and the perfect chew texture. The brown sugar flavor really came through, the perfect amount of sweetness and also had a toasty flavor adding to the depth of the drink.
