We’re back at Redstraw to study some more Russian (or, we studied outside and got Redstraw boba)! Today we went over a variety of small topics, including pronouns, question words, vocabulary, and others. Why must Russian have so many cases?
Anyway, recently I’ve been looking forward to trying more drinks on the menu when we decide to go to Redstraw, especially after trying one of the Custom Teas last time. I did have a Zoom call for my online class at 3:00 today, so my plan was that if I have some time after we finished, I would get a Custom Tea because they take time to brew it right there. If there isn’t too much time, I would get a Specialty Tea (the non-milk teas).
Just as I was going to decide from the many choices I have yet to try, I notice a new signboard: Redstraw released four new drinks (three of which use their smaller cup, which I find odd)! The one that stood out most to me was the (you guessed it) Peach Bellini, which maybe not-so-coincidentally, is the only one that doesn’t use the smaller cup. With peach, mango, lime, and tea, it sounded so good, so naturally I had to get it, because the main menu items will always be there. Now I didn’t know what a Bellini is, but I figured why not? I looked it up when I got home and apparently it’s an Italian cocktail with peaches as a base. That makes sense. I guess Redstraw really likes their (pseudo?)cocktails (see their mojitos!). I’m going to call them cockteals! 🙂
For the actual drink, you can see in the picture that it’s kind of dark and murky, probably because the base is black tea. I say this because the sample picture on their “New!” board was a much lighter color than what I got. As you drink it, there are some dark brown bits that cling to the side of the cup, which I am assuming are fruit/pulp bits? The picture also doesn’t show it, but there’s a lime slice in there!
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover (or both I guess counting the preview sample picture) because this drink is great! I ordered half sugar as usual, and like the Mango Mojito, the regular is 25% so I got 10%, and that was the perfect amount of sweetness. I think the drink is naturally sweetened with the variety of fruits and flavored in there, so less added sugar makes it just right. It’s a very refreshing drink, with just a hint of lime and fruitiness from the peach and mango. It does get a slight bitter or strange taste as you finish the drink though. The boba is nice and chewy and soft today, but not very sweet.
