Happy Fourth of July! Happy (supposed) Birthday America! Am I a proper patriotic citizen now?
We let my sister “choose” the place today, but since she’s not as familiar with the names of the stores, we asked her what drink she wanted, since she basically has a go-to drink per place. She requested the drink that “looks like blood”! Scary description, but we concluded the only “blood-like” drink was the Strawberry Hibiscus from 7 Leaves. Which, I will eventually order for myself since it sounds good and obviously tastes good because my sister approves, but not today. And no, I did not get the matcha after last time’s order. Maybe next time. I wanted milk tea today.
I was going to go with the Assam (essentially 7 Leaves’s black tea) because I’ve never ordered it for myself, but I decided to go adventurous with another drink because I’ve been meaning to try Oolong and you really can’t go wrong at 7 Leaves. I’ve always seen Oolong around, and I’ve heard good things about it. I was also deciding between the Oolong at Redstraw (from the other day!) but not ended up getting it, so I figured today’s the chance! I wouldn’t call this the start of an Oolong phase, but I’ll probably end up trying the Oolong at other places in the future!
Meaning to try Oolong? Check. Can’t go wrong at 7 Leaves? Big Check. The first sip I had really confirmed that thought. The drink is refreshing, and the flavor is a little darker than green tea, but isn’t that dark. I thought it would be darker, but it’s just right. Almost black tea-like, but with different background flavors(?). I think I’ve heard Oolong described as nutty, and I definitely agree with 7 Leaves’s drink. I personally don’t like nuts (other than pistachios) but I think nutty is the term. There’s that extra depth to it, not floral, but something like that. Sorry, I’m not a food critic, I’m just a food lover haha! Boba is just as good as always! Nicely chewy, not that sweet.
Man, it got really hot today. Is that why my large drink is disappearing before my eyes?!
