Boba is Bae – Orobae

Speaking of the quarantine life, a shop that recently opened locally just as everyone went into lockdown in their homes as coronavirus hit is Orobae. Definitely the next time I go to Mitsuwa or Daiso I’m picking up a drink. Unfortunately, my mom thought the drink she had was only okay (Hokkaido Milk Tea), so I’ve only had their drinks once, but the one I had (Gyokuro Green Tea) was pretty good. I’ve heard really good things about their tea quality so I’m hoping to try more once I get out the house! I’ve also heard that the manager is really nice and super dedicated to sanitizing and social distancing, so that’s a huge plus in recent times.

Update: as of mid 2024, Orobae seems to have temporarily closed for renovations, but hasn’t opened ever since. It’s looking like a permanent close at this point…

Chain? No.

Drinks Tried: Gyokuro Green Milk Tea, Honey Gyokuro Green Milk Tea, Rising Phoenix Milk Tea, Hokkaido Roasted Oolong Milk Tea, Honey Assam Milk Tea, White Peach Osmanthus Oolong, Metal Buddha Oolong Milk Tea, Red Jade Milk Tea,

Boba: Their boba is pretty good, just the right amount of chew and not too sweet. If I remember correctly (disclaimer: I have a bad memory), they were a little small for regular boba(?), but that’s nothing negative. I gotta check the next time I go there though. (Edit 7/22/20: after getting it again, seems like they’re regular sized ha! They also give a good amount!)

Price: I think the price is fairly reasonable. It may teeter a bit on the more expensive side of boba drinks, but I think the quality makes up for that!

Size: Medium vs Large. Their large is a very generous, so in my opinion you do get quantity for your price.

Interior: I…actually haven’t been inside because I’ve barely left my house. My dad went and picked up the drinks. I’d like to update this once I’ve been there. They’re also taking orders outside and not allowing customers inside in this time of social distancing.

Wait: Don’t have any any personal experience with this yet. Again, hope there will be an update! (Edit 7/22/20: Wait really depends. If you go at peak time, you can expect to wait 30 minutes! If it’s an off time, there’s almost no wait and you just need to wait for your drink to be made.)

Sell Food? I don’t think so.

Reward System? I don’t think so. They really should though.
